Service is essential in the Mission of the Church. To be a Catholic Christian, we need to be more than people who participate in Mass on Sunday. We must be people of action, people of service. Preparing for Confirmation is a process of becoming a fully committed member of the Christian community. The Holy Spirit stirs us to serve one another. Service is a way of life for committed Christians. Service requirements are to help the young people come to understand more fully that all baptized are called to carry out this mission. Opportunities for parish service will be provided throughout the confirmation process.
As Catholics, we are called to do Works of Mercy. Corporal Works include: To feed the hungry. To give water to the thirsty. To clothe the naked. To shelter the homeless. To visit the sick. To visit the imprisoned, or ransom the captive. To bury the dead. Spiritual Works include: To instruct the ignorant. To counsel the doubtful. To admonish the sinners. To bear patiently those who wrong us. To forgive offenses. To comfort the afflicted. To pray for the living and the dead
